NURS 117 – Transition to PN Practice (2)
Prerequisites: NURS 110, NURS 111, NURS 112, NURS 113, and NURS 114 with a minimum grade of C+, ENGL 101, PSY 101, and BIOL 100, BIOL 203, or BIOL 204. Corequisites: NURS 115 and NURS 116. This comprehensive course assimilates nursing content taught across the program. The focus of the course is to assist students to identify areas of knowledge and abilities to enhance prior to entering Practical Nursing practice and in preparation for the NCLEX-PN. The course covers information about, and strategies for success on, the NCLEX-PN. The course learning outcomes and competencies are achieved through active learning activities using case scenarios and role playing in the classroom. Students develop a plan for continued preparation for the NCLEX-PN after completion of the program. Students also develop a plan for continuing nursing education as a licensed nurse.
